Birmingham, MI — Troy United wrapped up the regular season Saturday night with a 4–0 shutout victory over the Birmingham Unified Kings. The scoring began in the first period when senior Tyler Jewell (Troy High School) snapped home a shot off a feed from captain Joey Clark (THS) to give Troy United the early lead. Jewell struck again in the second period, carrying the puck up the ice himself before beating the Kings’ goaltender to extend the advantage. The period featured heavy special teams play, as both teams battled through penalty trouble and successfully killed off five-on-three advantages. Just seconds into the third period, Jewell completed the hat trick, beating the Birmingham goalie once again to make it 3–0. Senior Ben Dumas (Athens High School) added another goal later in the period to cap the 4–0 win. Troy United’s blue line continued its strong play, but it was sophomore goaltender Noah Dumas (AHS) who stood out in net, earning his second shutout of the season with a stellar performance. With the victory, Troy United finishes the regular season at 25–2 and remains ranked in the Top 10 in Division 1 of the MHSAA. Troy United now turns its focus to playoff hockey next weekend, where it will face the winner of North Oakland / Utica Fraser on Saturday, February 21 at 5:30 PM at The Detroit Skate Club in Bloomfield.
