Varsity Lady RedHawks Take Over 1st Place with Win Over Rochester Adams.

Back-to back weeks against the same opponent, 3 games in 4 nights, Parents and Grandparents Night and 1st place on the line with the top 2 teams in the Blue division. It looked to be a great night if you are a fan of ladies basketball. Our Lady RedHawks welcomed in the Rochester Adams Highlanders for a key divisional game. Adams opened up the scoring in the game, and both teams traded baskets until the RedHawks went on a 11-0 run to take a 15-8 lead after 1 quarter. Katie Malone's 5 points and Laityn Dennis with 4 led the RedHawks in the 1st. Both defenses took over in the second and ended with both teams scoring 8 points apiece while the RedHawks took a 23-16 lead into halftime. Katie and Gabby Bieniek each had 3 points apiece in the quarter. Both teams came out of the locker room ice cold and neither team scored until the 5-minute mark where the Highlanders went on a 9-0 run to take a 25-23 lead. The RedHawks again gained control and went on a 7-0 run to take a 30-25 lead heading into the 4th quarter. Kata Tasich knocked down 4 free throws and Gabby hit another triple to lead the RedHawks in the 3rd. Again, early in the quarter the Lady RedHawks went on a 5-0 run to extend their lead to 10 points. From there both teams traded baskets the rest of the way as the RedHawks outscored Adams 13-8 to pull away for the hard-fought win and 1st place in the division. The RedHawks were led by Gabby Bieniek (13 points,11 rebounds, 4 steals & 2 assists), Katie Malone (12 points, 3 steals, 2 boards & 2 assists) and Kata Tasich with (10 points & 4 boards). Other key contributors were, Laityn Dennis (4 points & 6 boards), Annabelle Beaubien (3 points & 5 boards) and Kaitlyn Piggott (6 rebounds & 2 blocks). The victory raises the RedHawks overall record to 13-4 and 5-1 in the league. Great win ladies and keep working hard.
