Varsity Lady RedHawks Basketball Team Trounces Harper Woods.

After a tough conference loss @ Rochester Adams on Friday, our Varsity Ladies welcomed playing on their home court against the 5th place Pioneers from Harper Woods. The Pioneers opened the scoring early, but that was the last and only time that they held the lead. With the help from Gabby Bieniek's 4 points and Katie Malone's 3 points, the Lady RedHawks went on a 9-0 run and took a 12-4 lead after 1-quarter. The second quarter was all RedHawks, as they outscored the visitors 23-10 to take a 35-14 lead going into halftime. An 11-0 run in the quarter by 4 different players was the spark. Erica Obra had 8 points off the bench and Kata Tasich had 7 points in the quarter to lead the Lady RedHawks, while 8 different players scored in that 1st half. The home team started the 3rd on a 5-0 run to extend their lead to 40-14. From there, both teams traded baskets as the RedHawks took a commanding 52-25 lead heading into the 4th quarter. Kaitlyn Piggott had 9 points in that 3rd quarter to lead the Lady RedHawks. The Pioneers went on an early 10-2 run, only to see the RedHawks come right back with a 10-4 run to finish off the win by the score of 66-45. 12 of the 14 RedHawks tallied points in the game led by Senior Guard Kata Tasich with (12 points, 3 assists & 3 steals) and Sophomore Center Kaitlyn Piggott (9 points, 2 rebounds & 3 blocks). A trio of players had 8 points apiece starting with Katie Malone (3 rebounds), Erica Obra (2 rebounds) & Gabby Bieniek (3 rebounds & 4 steals). Other contributors were, Senior Forward Jaya Jackson (7 points), Ashasri Daram (4 points), Annabelle Beaubien (5 rebounds & 2 assists), Laityn Dennis (4 rebounds & 1 assist) and Hailey Fellin (3 assists & 2 steals). In all, the RedHawks had 14 assists in 20 buckets while showing excellent ball movement. The win raises their overall record to 11-4 and 4-1 in league play. Good game ladies and keep it up.
