After the ladies longest streak of road games of the season, 5 of the last 7 games. The RedHawks returned home to face league opponent, the Harper Woods Pioneers. A month ago, our Lady RedHawks traveled to Harper Woods and came away with a convincing victory. Today on home court, they were looking to do the same again. Our ladies jumped out to an early 9-4 lead after 1 quarter and followed that up with a 10-4 second quarter to take a 19-8 lead into halftime. 10 of our 14 players scored in the 1st half led by Samantha Kolpak with 4 points and Ella Odgers with 3. In the second half, the Lady RedHawks came out sluggish on the offensive end only scoring 6 points but picking up their defensive intensity to hold the Pioneers to 6 points also, taking a 25-14 lead going into the 4th. Again, the RedHawks defense was the star of the 4th quarter holding Harper Woods to 4 points to score a 35-18 win. 12 of the 14 players contributed points led by Briony Esper (6 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists & 1 steal). Both Madhu Battula (5 rebounds, 6 steals, 1 assist & 1 block) and Savannah Byrum (3 rebounds & 1 steal) each had 5 points apiece. Samantha Kolpak (4 points), Faith Cotton (4 points & 4 steals), Ella Odgers (3 points & 3 steals), Emery Collesano (5 rebounds, 2 steals & 2 assists) and Sienna Brown (5 rebounds, 3 assists & 1 steal) also contributed to the win. "We played very hard on the defensive end which kept Harper Woods from scoring. We kept cheering each other on and kept our focus and a positive attitude when the other team tried to get aggressive with us. Everyone contributed to the game in one way or another to lead us to the victory," said Savannah Schubeck. The victory raises the RedHawks record to 11-3 overall & 4-0 in the conference. Again, our teams will be playing 3 games in 4 nights. Good job ladies and keep up the good work.
