The Varsity Lady RedHawks traveled to Bloomfield Hills on Tuesday to face the Black Hawks for the final game of the evening for the Athens Ladies Basketball Program. The Lady RedHawks jumped out to an early 12-6 lead with their press, that caused numerous turnovers and easy chances on offense. The offense and defense continued to hold the Black Hawks at bay throughout the quarter to take a 18-8 1st quarter lead. Kata Tasich led the RedHawks with 9 first quarter points. The second quarter was about both offenses slowing down and the defenses picking up. Even with that emphasis, the Lady RedHawks outscored the home team by the score of 7-5 to take a 25-13 halftime lead. Madi Stencel was the key contributor in the quarter with 5 of the 7 team's points. The 3rd quarter was all about both teams getting up and down the court and trading baskets with the Black Hawks outscoring the visitors by the score of 13-11 to cut the lead to 36-26 entering the final stanza. Again, the 4th quarter was much like the 2nd as both defenses stood out with the Lady RedHawks outscoring the Black Hawks by the score of 8-2 to win the game going away by the score of 44-28. The RedHawks were led by Kata Tasich with 11 points, 5 steals and 3 assists. Other key contributors were, Gabby Bieniek (8 points, 5 rebounds & 3 assists), Madison Stencel (7 points, 4 rebounds & 2 assists), Kaitlyn Piggott (6 points, 5 rebounds & 2 steals) and Ashasri Daram & Katie Malone (5 rebounds, 3 steals & 3 assists) each had 4 points apiece.
