When a team goes into unfamiliar territory to play a game, they have to be able to rely on the information that their Coach gives to them. They have to be able to listen to the information and go out and execute. Tonight, our JV Lady RedHawks traveled to play @ Harper Woods in their 1st league game of the year. And execute they did. Our ladies jumped out to an early 15-6 lead, doing what the Pioneers usually do to other teams by pressing them and creating havoc. The RedHawks withstood their pressure and created 4 steals and numerous turnovers of their own. Those turnovers led to many chances, some of which the ladies couldn't finish, but they were still able to keep the home team at bay. Lily Greaves & Madelyn Odgers each had 4 points apiece and Ella Odgers had 3 points in the quarter. In the second quarter the Lady RedHawks outscored the home team by the score of 14-2 to take a 29-8 lead into halftime. Emery Collesano, Lily Greaves and Samantha Kolpak each had 4 points apiece in the 2nd quarter. The 3rd quarter was much of the same as the 1st-2 quarters as the ladies outscored the Pioneers 15-7 to take a 44-15 lead into the final stanza. Sophia Alexander had 2-3 pointers for 6 points and Madelyn Odgers added 4 points. In the final quarter the Pioneers finally outscored the RedHawks 12-9, but the Lady RedHawks still won the game going away 53-27. Both Lily Greaves (6 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists & 1 block) and Madelyn Odgers (11 rebounds, 2 steals & 1 block) led the Lady RedHawks with 10 points apiece. Other contributors were Samantha Kolpak (8 points, 4 steals & 1 assist), both Sophia Alexander (2 steals & 3 awesome assists) & Emery Collesano (4 rebounds & 1 assist) each had 6 points apiece. Ella Odgers (5 points, 6 rebounds & 3 assists), Aleen Ahmad (4 points, 2 boards & 1 steal) and Madhu Battula, who played an exceptional under control floor game, had (3 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals & 3 assists). Also, 2 players that were and are a key to our success with their rebounding and aggressiveness that have been sick are Sienna Brown (4 rebounds) & Sienna Young (6 rebounds), both did a great job in extremely limited minutes. An outstanding all-around game by our ladies. The win raises their record to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the league. Great job ladies and keep working hard.
