JVA Lady Redhawks Basketball Gets Big Road Win @ Bloomfield Hills.

Tuesday night the Lady RedHawks traveled to play @ Bloomfield Hills in another non-league game. The ladies came out strong from the start with a press that was led by Lily Greaves with 3 steals and 8 points to take an early 13-8 lead after 1-quarter. In the 2nd, the Lady RedHawks really clamped down on the defensive end holding the Black Hawks to 5 points while scoring 15 of their own to take a 28-13 halftime lead. Lily added another 4 points along with Faith Cotton to lead the team. The 3rd quarter started out like the 1st half ended as the RedHawks outscored the Black Hawks 14-5 to take a 42-18 lead heading into the 4th quarter. "Our defense was strong today with 22 steals and a lot of deflections that turned into points", said Lily. The ladies finished off the game by outscoring Bloomfield Hills 8-4 in the 4th for a 50-22 victory. Lily Greaves led the Lady RedHawks with (12 points, 4 steals, 2 boards and 2 assists) and Ella Odgers had 7 points. Other key contributors were, Madhu Battula (6 points, 4 rebounds & 2 steals), Madelyn Odgers (6 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals and an assist), Samantha Kolpak playing her best game of the season so far had (6 points, 4 rebounds, 5 steals and an assist) and Freshman Sophia Alexander had (6 points, 2 steals and 1 assist) in limited minutes. Faith Cotton (5 points & 2 rebounds) played excellent defense while Sienna Brown had (3 rebounds, a block and a steal). A very nice team effort. The win raises the RedHawks record to 4-3 with a league contest @ 5:30 on Thursday at Harper Woods. Nice game ladies and keep playing hard.
