In the second game of the Saturday doubleheader the Varsity teams took to the hardwood for their crossover game. The Lady RedHawks opened up the scoring early, Walled Lake Central tied the game at 3 apiece and then it was all RedHawks the rest of the way. Our ladies went on a 13-2 run to take a 16-5 lead after 1-quarter. Kaitlyn Piggott had 5 points and Erica Obra had 3 points to lead the early scoring. The defense stayed aggressive creating numerous turnovers that turned into a 14-2 run for a 30-7 halftime lead. Gabby Bieniek with 6 points and Annalise Lorenz with 4 led the second quarter attack. A run of 16-6 in the second half finished off the Vikings and enabled the RedHawks to pull away for the 46-13 victory. Gabby Bieniek (12 points, 5 steals & 3 rebounds), Erica Obra (8 points) and Kaitlyn Piggott (6 points & 6 boards) led the Lady RedHawks in scoring. Kata Tasich (2 steals & 2 boards), Katie Malone (8 boards, 4 steals & 2 assists), Annalise Lorenz and Laityn Dennis each contributed 4 points apiece. Annabelle Beaubien had 4 rebounds, Madi Stencel (3 steals), Ashasri Daram (2 boards & 2 steals) and Jaya Jackson had 3 boards. As a team the Lady RedHawks accumulated 29 steals, 35 rebounds and 10 assists. The win raised the RedHawks record to 5-2 on the season. Good game ladies and keep working hard.
