In the 2nd game of the evening our JV Ladies took to the court at Lake Orion. Both teams came out aggressive on the defensive end as both teams scored 8 points apiece to end the 1st quarter tied. In the second quarter our Lady Redhawks clamped down defensively and held the Dragons to just 3 points while scoring 7 to take a 15-11 halftime lead. Lily Greaves scored 7-1st half points and Savannah Byrum chipped in with 4 to lead the Lady Redhawks. In the 3rd quarter the visiting Redhawks increased their lead up to 10 points only to see the Dragons cut the lead down to 3 points heading into the 4th quarter by the score of 23-20. Madelyn Odgers with 5 points and Madhu Battula with 3 led the ladies in the 3rd quarter. In the 4th quarter, both teams traded baskets with the Dragons making 6 free throws to take a late lead. The Redhawks fought back and cut the lead to 2 with 14 seconds left in the game and the ball under the Dragons basket. The inbounds came into Madhu Battula with 12 seconds left and she ties the game with a short bucket. The Dragons race the ball up court and the Redhawks knock the ball out on the side with 4 seconds left. The ball goes to the corner and the baseline official 30 feet away calls a foul on the Redhawks. The Dragons miss the 1st free throw and the Lady Redhawks call time out to try and ice the shooter. She makes the second and Maddie Odgers takes the ball out and throws it the length of the court to Lily Greaves, who heaves up a last second shot, but comes up short and our ladies fall 34-33. Lily Greaves led the Lady Redhawks with (9 points, 3 steals, 3 assists & 2 points), Madhu Battula (7 points & 2 assists), Madelyn Odgers (7 points & 3 boards), Ella Odgers (4 points, 6 rebounds & 1 steal) and Savannah Byrum (4 points). Both Savannah Schubeck and Sienna Brown had 3 rebounds apiece. The loss moves the Lady Redhawk's record to 1-2. Tough loss ladies and keep working hard.
