In the second game of our Tuesday night tripleheader the fans saw an exciting and tightly contested game between our Lady Redhawks and the visiting Bears from Berkley. The 1st quarter started out slowly for both teams as the score was knotted up at 7 apiece. In the second quarter both teams started to heat up with the Bears outscoring the Redhawks 17-12 to take a 24-19 lead into halftime. Lily Greaves had 5 points, Freshman Madelyn Odgers chipped in with 4 points and both Ella Odgers & Savannah Byrum had 3 points apiece. The Redhawk's defense came out strong in the 3rd quarter holding the Bears to just 5 points while scoring 14 to take a 33-29 lead heading into the 4th quarter. Sienna Brown and Lily Greaves both had 4 points apiece to lead the ladies in the 3rd quarter. But, in the 4th the Redhawks could not sustain their momentum and fell behind by 1 point with 6 seconds to play in the game. The Lady Redhawks had the ball under their own basket with a chance to win the game, but their shot fell of the rim and the Bears snatched the rebound and held on for a 43-42 victory. A very hard fought and exciting game by both teams. The Redhawks were led by Lily Greaves with 13 points and 8 steals. Ella Odgers (5 points, 8 steals, 3 rebounds & 3 assists), Madhu Battula (5 points) and Savannah Byrum also with 5 points led the Redhawks. The ladies play next @ home against the Stallions of Sterling Heights on Thursday. Good luck and keep working hard ladies!
