Troy, MI — Troy United defended home ice Wednesday night with a 5–1 win over the Wyandotte Roosevelt Bears, powered by strong special teams and steady goaltending. Troy United opened the scoring on the power play when senior Breiden Blaeske (Athens High School) buried a rebound off a shot from Ben Dumas (AHS). A delayed scoring call later credited Dumas with a goal of his own after he knocked in a rebound created by Joey Clark (Troy High School), giving TU a 2–0 lead. Wyandotte started the second period on a man advantage and scored within the first 30 seconds to cut the lead to 2–1. The period continued as a back-and-forth battle with quality chances for Troy United until Blaeske struck again, netting his second power-play goal of the night to restore the multi-goal cushion. Tyler Jewell (THS) added to the tally moments later, finishing a passing play from Josh Schmidt (THS) and Yuto Kuwabara (THS), pushing the lead to 4–1. The third period remained scoreless despite multiple penalties and frequent trips to the box for both teams. Sophomore goaltender Noah Dumas (AHS) turned away every Wyandotte chance to preserve the lead. In the final minute, Kaiser Ascencio (AHS) sealed the game with a power-play goal, assisted by Clark, securing the 5–1 victory. Troy United looks to keep the winning streak rolling as they host Thumb Area Legion on Saturday, December 13th at 5:15 PM at Buffalo Wild Wings Arena.
