MUSKEGON, MI November 14 — Troy United Hockey opened its west-side weekend road trip with a 5–1 victory over the Grand Haven Buccaneers on Friday night. Troy came out firing, netting three unanswered goals in the first period. Senior Breiden Blaeske (Athens High School) got the scoring started early. Assistant Captain and senior Ben Dumas (AHS) followed with a power-play goal, and senior defenseman Quentin Gatto (Troy High School) capped the dominant opening frame with a point shot that found the back of the net. Despite facing heavy penalty trouble in the second period, Troy United kept momentum on its side. Junior Jian Song (THS) scored his first varsity goal, extending the lead to 4–0 before the second intermission. Dumas added his second goal of the night on a third-period power play, pushing the lead to 5–0. Grand Haven managed a late goal to spoil the shutout, but sophomore goaltender Noah Dumas (AHS) delivered an outstanding performance, keeping the Buccaneers off the scoreboard for nearly the entire game. His effort earned him Player of the Game! Troy United continues its weekend road trip on Saturday as they take on Reeths-Puffer. Story by: Jason Clark Photo credit: Shannon Blaeske
