TROY, MI — November 8, 2025 — The Troy United varsity hockey team opened their season in commanding fashion Saturday night, defeating Stoney Creek 6–1 in an Oakland Activities Association (OAA) league matchup. Team Assistant Captain Kai Ascencio (Junior, Athens High School) led the way with two goals, earning Player of the Game honors for his standout performance. Senior Tyler Jewell (Troy High School) found the back of the net for his first career varsity goal. Additional goals came from Senior Assistant Captain Ben Dumas (AHS), Senior Aaron Stinson (THS), and Senior Breiden Blaeske (AHS), rounding out a balanced offensive attack that kept Stoney Creek on their heels all night. In net, Sophomore goaltender Noah Dumas (AHS) made an impressive varsity debut, turning aside nearly every shot he faced in a lights-out performance that helped set the tone for the season. Troy United will look to build on this momentum when they return to the ice on Wednesday, November 12, to face Utica-Fraser Unified. Story by: Jason Clark Photo credit: Shannon Blaeske
